According to PEW Research over 80 percent of parents with a teen are friends with their childs on Facebook.
Don’t know exactly what and which hidden information of big data is analyzed by whom, but the potential for developmental studies is probably huge. The next generation will have perfect knowledge about lifetime development within all social contexts and its most important influences, present longitudinal studies are not capable of. Unfortunately the results are not yet visible for normal users. So I am hoping for tools for private persons, who are stepping in the dark till now.
Traditional psychological methods alone are certainly doubtful in analysis, therapy and pricing (Family Constellations, Social Constellations, emotional Development). The often practiced and expensive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is doubtful, if people are not in approximately the same situation and/or have about the same interests, since it is unbelievable difficult to forcibly imagine the life of others. Imagine the political direction of it and as a profession you would want to become an actor. So due to rising digitalization they will probably be enriched or replaced by data models (Interactive Activation and Competition network, McClelland & Rumelhart, Social Network Analysis).
